Efficacy Study of the PSH Ozone Range in Canine Pyoderma and Atopic Dermatitis (CAD)
Canine atopic dermatitis (CAD) is a genetically predisposed, inflammatory, and pruritic disease with characteristic clinical manifestations, with a prevalence of 15-20% in canines.
It is common to observe lesions located interdigitally, aurally (especially on the concave surface of the pinna and in the vertical canal of the external auditory meatus), on the abdomen, in the armpits, perineum, facial region (periocular, labial, skin folds), as well as generalized involvement, affecting several or all of the mentioned areas. An individualized manifestation for each breed, with specific patterns of extension, is also common.
Other types of lesions such as excoriations, lichenification, and hyperpigmentation (chronic presentation) can also be observed. The appearance of superficial or surface bacterial pyoderma and the presence of Malassezia spp dermatitis are common situations.
Both superficial and surface pyoderma often appear as secondary complications to underlying CAD, and are somewhat due to alterations in the skin barrier, a fundamental aspect in understanding the pathogenesis of Canine Atopic Dermatitis.
The most frequent bacterial population is the presence of Staphylococcus pseudointermedius spp, with areas of erythema, crusts, and in complicated forms, purulent secretions.
These lesions are usually concentrated in the folds of the skin, such as the armpits, groin, and ventral side of the neck, primarily causing intertrigo or pyoderma of the skin folds.
The success in managing these pathologies, after proper diagnosis, lies in combining treatment and control strategies.

EFFICACY STUDY
Objective
Measure the reduction of lesions, mainly due to pyoderma and CAD, treated solely with PSH's Ozone line shampoo therapy.
Methodology
Topical treatment using a shampoo therapy + foam protocol in 15 cases with pyoderma or CAD lesions, until clinical cure or fourth veterinary visit (45 days), through a protocol and negative cytology review.
- N=15 dogs
- Measurement in CADESI-4
OZONE PSH TREATMENT PROTOCOL
Shampoo Therapy
Ozone Soft and Hard Shampoo
Apply the shampoo (Soft for mild problems, Hard for severe ones) with a massage over the entire area to be treated, and rinse off the product.
Ozone SWEET Conditioner
Apply the Sweet conditioner after using the shampoo. We recommend that the hair be dry and free of moisture after washing.
Every 2 or 3 days in case of an outbreak; once improvement is observed, the time between washes is spaced out.
RESULTS
An 87% average reduction in CADESI-4 lesions was observed at the fourth specialist veterinary visit (45 DAYS).
In half of the patients, symptoms completely resolved.
